I went through our cabinet and cleaned out the junk I felt like I should get out of the house.

There really wasn’t all that much to worry about.

I LOVE those ginger cookies – and it’s practically a brand new bag – but it’s not the end of the world. The pie? Jon’s work had a birthday party for him, so he brought home the leftovers. The cake in the background? Also leftover from his birthday. I’m taking the cake, pie and cookies to work tomorrow to get rid of them there.

I’m not really worried about the rest of the stuff in our cabinet that might not be Whole 30 friendly.

This is pretty much the extent of what we have on hand at any given time. Oatmeal, popcorn, honey, peanuts and all the seasoning stuff on the bottom R just don’t bother me having them around. I don’t know that I’ve actually ever even cooked oatmeal myself and I doubt I’ll ever have much motivation to do so.

Those little boxes of couscous have been around FOREVER. I think they’re leftovers from when Jon had his cancer surgery and was on an all white diet (almost 2 years ago!). The rice? Very easy to avoid because I’d have to cook it (and realistically – I have no idea how to cook rice). The rest of that stuff is chicken broth and cans of tomatoes, coconut milk, etc.

So – the cabinet clean-out wasn’t that big of a deal.

I went grocery shopping to prepare for the week and came home with this:

Then I spent the entire afternoon cooking. Me!

I can’t remember where I found the recipe for these meatballs (I’ve just been sending myself notes as I’ve found easy stuff to make on websites, forums, etc.). Beef, sweet potato, cilantro and mushrooms.

I also made some spinach & beef muffins I found in Well Fed.

And I cooked about a pound of beef with peppers and onions to have on hand for taco(ish) salads and stuff like that.

AND I boiled a dozen eggs.

Jon has done this sort of food prep off and on as time has allowed for years and has always been the driving force behind the paleo stuff (I know I’ve bitched about that enough here), but I’m fully motivated this time – for maybe the first true time – so I actually read stuff and shocked myself with the meal planning.

I can do this. I’m sure of it.

I’ve decided to officially start tomorrow vs. Oct 1 since it’s a Monday and I’m ready to go.

I’m thinking I might weigh and take measurements in the morning.

I have a session planned with the trainer at 5:30AM that I’m planning to keep despite the fact that I seem to be completely losing my voice … and I have Body Flow at the gym after work, so we’ll see how I feel without my afternoon carbs.
