I really need to get back to work before I forget how to dry my hair and wear something other than t-shirts and pajamas.
I’m very fortunate that I will have had 11 days off in a row – but I’m ready for my normal routine. I think I spent one entire day on the same spot on the couch. I have seriously been dressed in stretchy clothes for DAYS.
I did cook one day – the only day Jon had to work – so it hasn’t been ALL wasted time.
Even though that’s a lie. It’s ALL been wasted time.
It’s been nice.
I have GOT to get out of yoga pants, though. Wearing them every day has led to some regular-pants shrinkage.
We’ve been eating completely randomly, but fairly well considering all of the sugar. It looks like I’ve only been getting around to pictures of breakfast, though.
Corned beef hash at a local diner:
Jon’s eggs + kale:
Cereal, of course:
Jon made a really decent lunch yesterday: chicken + venison steaks + sweet potatoes + brussels sprouts (sauteed w/bacon & dill) + spinach salad:
(LOVE this blue cheese recipe.)
We decided to have one final blow-out today since we’re hopping on a health-kick bandwagon tomorrow – so I requested cupcakes.
Jon and his child #4 picked them out.
The highlight BY FAR? Some sort of maple bacon thing that I was forced to share 3 ways.
Done with the sugar now.
The health-kick? I’ve decided to do a 31 day paleo challenge. Like, for real. I’m even giving up BEANS, which – for the record – I find ridiculous.
The thought of doing something like this hasn’t been appealing IN ANY WAY in the past. I may have sworn I’d never do anything of the sort.
I’m in a good place, though. I think I can do this for fun and for competition with Jon and for the general health benefit since I’m feeling bloated and lethargic and gross.
The plan is to start tomorrow and take advantage of the camaraderie going on this time of the year. I even DVR’d some health kicky shows (like Biggest Loser – but that might get deleted).
I’m going to keep this up for the entire month and then happily go back to occasional cupcakes. I’m sure I’m going to be miserable – and I may cave – but I’m planning to post each day of the month with some sort of whiny progress report.
I’m thinking I may weigh each day, too. I haven’t weighed in a while, but I’m sure I’m up several pounds – so it might be interesting to see what happens.
We’re signed up to do a New Year’s Day 5k in the morning that’s supposed to serve as a benchmark for the RunKnox training thing (that’s officially starting this Saturday) – so I’ll have lots of measurable starting information tomorrow: weight and 5k time/ability. SO EXCITED.
