Fun weekend. Pretty active.

Jon and I went to the gym on Saturday morning (as usual). Seemed like we were the only people there, which was fairly weird – and boring. I think we must have gone earlier than usual/before the classes started.

Jon hurt his back last week doing dead lifts – again – so he’s doing PT a couple of times a week. Working on it himself, too.

My dad and step-mother came into town for a brief visit, so we took them to Cades Cove to do touristy stuff.

They like looking at cemeteries for whatever it is people look at cemeteries for – so we obliged.

I don’t think we’ve been since we rode our bikes through a couple (?) of summers ago. Definitely want to do that again soon.

We came home and didn’t have much going on after my dad left, so we went to the greenway for a walk and wound up doing 4 easy miles.

This morning, Jon got up and ran while I did nothing.

I ate cereal, but he ate this (and kindly took a pic for me):

(I’m hopeful the gallbladder removal will enable me to eat with him again – this looks so much better.)

We attempted a hike at House Mountain this afternoon – a “natural area” near us.

I felt like it was a little too “natural” for me, though, not even half a mile in when I realized I was standing in a sea of poison ivy.

I bailed.

We wound up at Ijams Nature Center instead and walked around the quarry area – something we’ve done many times.

Jon’s child #4 and I were convinced we were covered in poison ivy, so we kept it short.

Untitled

Looks like we survived with just a few mosquito bites, though.

Lunch before we left:

Jon marinated chicken thighs (jerk seasoning) + steamed asparagus + made sweet potato chips for the first time.

I’m eating ice cream for dinner because … I feel like it.

Surgery is tomorrow morning.
