Well – it took just 8 days to lose 5 pounds and get back to normal.

The human body is such a strange thing.

I knew this would happen. I have spent the past two days shocked at the amount of liquid my body has been capable of eliminating at one time.

I had a couple of days of nearly unbearable addiction-like thoughts/cravings for large amounts of sugar + carbs and wanted nothing but crackers, chips, pretzels, cookies, etc. as I came down from the vacation sugarfest – which I gave in to – but I’m feeling rational again and am continuing to normalize my diet.

I feel SO MUCH BETTER.

The backlash is almost not worth the vacation indulgence – but I guarantee I’ll go through this again.

I’ve been using the myfitnesspal app the past week or so to generally heighten my awareness.

It initially had my goal at 1200 calories/day.

HA. Right. Seriously. I’d rather be overweight.

I bumped it up to 1320 – for days I don’t exercise – so we’ll see if I can sustain that.

I’m still eating what I want – when I want – and am very resistant to rigid food rules – but I’m trying to be a little more mindful. The couple of days of addiction-like binging scared me. I didn’t eat more than 2000 calories either of those days (controlled my behavior) – but the mind stuff? Holy shit.

Jon’s back on a paleo(ish) kick, so he’s been cooking a lot. I’ve been home to eat during daylight hours a couple of times.

One night he did a shrimp boil.

Another day he needed to cook a whole chicken that was rapidly going bad – so he threw it in the crock pot that morning with some cans of crushed tomatoes, an onion, a bell pepper, some mushrooms and random spices on top.

Turned out really well.

He did something similar with a bison roast the other day – but it turns out I hate bison – so I think I had eggs.

It’s been hot here (of course) so I’ve been sporadically going to the gym and working out with AC. We’ve walked just once, which I really miss – but made it just a mile before we gave up d/t impending heat stroke.

Seems like the temp is improving lately – so I’m hoping we’ll be able to have an active weekend outside.

I haven’t had time to think about the trip again, but it’s coming. Belgium was the best part.
