I obviously didn’t do such a great job documenting our trip as it happened. We crammed a lot into our days – and I was generally too tired to do much at night (my internet time) but sleep.
We got home late Monday afternoon – 15 hours after starting the journey – and were exhausted. So glad to be home, though.
Yesterday, I met with a surgeon and planned the removal of my gallbladder + I drug Jon to get a pedicure with me + we ran errands + meal planned & grocery shopped, etc. Today? I don’t know – besides smoking some meat in The Egg. Tomorrow – vacation is over. Unfortunately. I’m not ready for reality just yet.
I weighed myself this morning (at 4am when I was wide awake since my sleep is still sort of jacked up). I was curious what 10 days away with no exercise (other than walking approximately 10,000 miles a day) + eating junk (and dessert) at just about each meal would look like.
The last time I documented my weight (May 22) = 166.5. Since then, I’ve pretty consistently hovered around 164.
Not too bad. I’ve been home (and eating decently) 1 full day. I’m guessing I’ll be back to 164 by next week.
The gallbladder thing? I was on the fence – and leaning toward NOT having it removed just yet – until I met with the surgeon.
We talked about all of my stomach drama and he was very sure that removal is the right thing to do. Honestly, I would not be going through with it if there had been any hesitation on his part whatsoever. I trust his opinion. There’s some history – he’s the surgeon we chose for Jon’s colon surgery.
I was curious about the weight loss and asked his opinion about whether it killed my gallbladder (which I still don’t REALLY know since he explained that the HIDA scan is generally not a good measure). He wouldn’t even entertain it, though – just told me that my weight loss was, by far, the very best thing I could have done for my body – and that it was well worth potentially damaging my gallbladder since it’s expendable, anyway.
Felt pretty guilty for all the vacation junk eating + weight gaining.
So – I left off in Landau, Germany the day Jon’s company took us to a winery.
I met him for lunch (at the hotel) since I had skipped the wives stuff again.
Jon’s lunch (buffet again):
My lunch (trying to be careful/not eating meat d/t stomach drama):
They took us to the winery on a huge bus, which turned out to be a good thing since it was more of a drinking thing than a tasting thing.
It was a beautiful place.
It was someone’s birthday – so they lit up the ice cream.
The owner of the place talked about the history of the land, his process, what he makes, etc.
And … we drank until the bus came back.
Up next: Jon finished up work stuff and we drove to Strasbourg, France for dinner.
(I finished uploading over 300 pictures this morning here.)
