I ran out of the onion bagels this morning. I’m not planning to actually start buying them – I think I need to take a break – but I’ll miss this breakfast.

(I bought them because I had a coupon to get them for free – sent to me via the store rewards thing for unknown reasons because I don’t think our buying habits indicate that we buy stuff like this – but maybe that’s the point since I DID, in fact, try them?).

I was a little distracted and burned this one around the edges.

Lunch was quick & simple.

(Spring mix + cucumber slices + bell pepper pieces + crunchy peas + sesame dressing.)

I’m generally hesitant to buy bottled dressings because they’re typically full of crap + they taste chemicalish, but I was feeling impulsive and a little tired of salsa on every salad.

I don’t love it, but it’s decent enough – just slightly chemicalish. A little bit definitely goes a long way.

I also converted a leftover pork chop to a sandwich.

I’m on a serious bread/carb kick lately. I’ve had frozen bagels of varying sorts in the freezer FOREVER and didn’t start eating them regularly until recently + the cereal incident the other day + I bought a loaf of french bread yesterday for no real reason other than I just wanted it and wanted to make something into a sandwich.

I don’t know, but I’m going with it since I’m still trying out the Intuitive Eating concept. I don’t think I’m going overboard, but I’m definitely noticing that I’m choosing bread quite a bit lately.

(Update on IE, in general: weight is still in the exact same range. I’m not gaining or losing. I think I was 181 this morning. I can see sustaining this way of doing things for the long haul – esp since it is, realistically, just EATING without the craziness – but I’m not sure about losing weight. I’m actively trying to be a little conscious re: calories and nothing is happening.)

I had an afternoon snack. (Not the whole bag. Maybe a serving or 2.)

Jon made spaghetti for dinner. The “noodles” are a spaghetti squash – not actual noodles, obv, which is why it looks a little watery/juicy (I think). The sauce is the regular stuff we use from a jar – spruced up with spices, an orange pepper, an onion, Kalamata olives and Italian sausage.

It was dreary and rained all day so I spent 30 minutes on the stationary bike while catching up on some of the tv stuff (online) that I’ve missed. It sounds really bad to say, but one of the things I’m most looking forward to re: the move back to TN is having directv + premium channels back.

So Jon hasn’t been feeling well lately. Realistically, he’s felt pretty badly for the last YEAR or so. We both sort of blew it off for a while thinking it was stress d/t the move, the constant separation, his travel/work situation, the school stress he absorbs from me, his never-ending battles with video games and the kids that are so much better than him, his increased carb consumption, decreased intense exercise, etc.

Basically – we blamed it on everything going on in our lives. It’s been a rough year.

He went to the doctor a few times, though, and wound up having an endoscopy a couple of weeks ago.

(Wherein I learned that I have some residual issues from the trauma associated with my step-father’s sudden death 6 months ago because holy fucking shit did this day with Jon suck for reasons other than standard husband-having-a-procedure suck. I think it was the bed + the hospital gown + seeing him IN THEM all hooked up to something.)

They biopsied some stuff and now he has an upcoming appointment with a gastroenterologist.

Why does this matter here?

It seems very likely he has Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance), so our way of eating and cooking and drinking might be going strictly paleo pretty soon.

It’s a GD good thing we’ve already done a lot to clean up our diet, but it’s still sad/going to be hard. Beer is like his favorite thing EVER.
