We did it!

I really had no doubt that we could easily walk it since we walk 3.5+ miles fairly frequently. I was EXTREMELY nervous about the whole thing, though.

So nervous that I started making noises last night about maybe not feeling like dealing with it.

I woke up this morning and started in again about maybe I needed to work on my paper, my stomach was hurting (it was), it was too hot, I was sleepy.

This is the jacked up thing: I wasn’t worried about being able to do it or finish it. I knew very well that I could likely jog at least 1/4 of it + walk the rest with no difficulty. I worry – always – about not being good enough/fast enough/capable of not humiliating myself.

I’m also somewhat of a freak about new things. I DO THEM, but I’m always nervous. I’ve never participated in an organized race event. I had no idea what to expect.

Jon balances me so well – so I showed up – after some encouragement (prodding).

I actually had a fabulous time.

It flew by – we just talked to each other – and wound up very far from last. My only issue was that I was STARVING and really grumpy with myself for not bringing along my coffee.

I jogged here and there to get around people but pretty exclusively walked. Honestly – I could have (and HAVE) pushed myself way harder.

The Nike+ thing was off. I punched something and wasn’t able to calibrate today’s walk – so this is not accurate. The time is close to being accurate, though. I stopped it about 200m prior to the finish.

My goal was to walk it in 45 minutes, so it looks like I did what I planned.

I’m feeling motivated now.

My new semi-goal is to be able to jog an entire one – without caring about the time, speed, etc. – just non-stop jogging.

I think I needed this burst of motivation. Hopefully it lasts.

There was no way we were going to stick around and wait in the huge line for bagels and pizza – so we left and got breakfast on the way home.

Taste of Ann Arbor was happening today, too, so we hung out at home for a little while and then went back downtown for that.

We got several things along the way and split them – so we had a bite or two of each.

(A meatball from Argiero’s Italian Restaurant.)

(A spinach pie from The Parthenon Restaurant.)

(Ribs + a chicken slider from Blue Tractor BBQ & Brewery.)

(Meat (chicken) & Veg (cabbage) plate from The Blue Nile – my favorite A2 restaurant.)

(My favorite of the day – a blueberry/lemon cupcake from the Cupcake Station. I really didn’t want to share this tiny thing, but I did it.)

Fun afternoon!

Jon didn’t feel like cooking dinner – and I sure as hell didn’t want to deal with it – so I requested pizza.

I will probably be up half the night working on the GD paper. I have NEVER felt this way about anything in my ENTIRE life, but I’m too old for this shit. I’m ready to go back to an 8-5 life , for real.
